Read the following speech and write a thesis that analyzes how the writer uses rhetorical strategies to achieve his or her purpose.
Use your AP handouts and FAT-P DIDLSTone Worksheet.
1.Annotate the speech and complete the rhetorical analysis worksheet.
2.Find 10 Rhetorical Strategies/Devices and provide an example of each. (Check this out)
3. Write a thesis for the prompt. Make sure it addresses the speech writer’s purpose and three “big” ideas. Use the diction, imagery, details, figurative language, syntax, tone.
4.Show a clip or give a reading of the speech in class and highlight the major rhetorical elements for the class. Then facilitate a conversation in which you help us make connections and conclusions about the significance of the speech.
