Respond to the following questions using complete sentences and post to Digication. Show the entire writing process with statements of context and connections to standards and habits of minds.
1 What part of writing this paper took the most time?
Perhaps you had trouble finding a topic or expressing a particular idea. Maybe you agonized over a single word or phrase. Be specific when you answer this question.
2 What is the most significant difference between your first draft and this final version?
Explain if you changed your approach to the subject, if you reorganized the paper in any significant way, or if you added or deleted any major details.
3 What do you think is the best part of your paper?
Explain why a particular sentence, paragraph, or idea pleases you.
4 What part of this paper could still be improved?
Again, be specific. There may be a troublesome sentence in the paper or an idea that isn't expressed as clearly as you would like it to be.
First Quarter Learning Report
At the halfway point of this class you, your parent(s), and the instructor will draw conclusions from your portfolio about your learning and growth. This process will include the following:
First Quarter Learning Report – Reflection Questions
This is final and most important step. When you take the time to post a reflection on an artifact showcased in your ePortfolio, you demonstrate your reasoning and critical thinking abilities. You show deeper levels of your communications, creative, and leadership abilities. Your reflection shows a higher order of thinking on your part. The purpose of this is to help you make connections between learning and growth experiences in all areas of your life. Choose three of the following reflection prompts about the first quarter of this course. Write a minimum of 150 words per reflection and make one reference to evidence from your portfolio to support your claim.
Post your reflection to the welcome page of your ePortfolio on Digication.
Reflection Questions (Choose3):
Peer Feedback Reflection (Choose 1):
The first draft of the Metaphor piece is due on 8/22 at noon. Please post to Digication before you come to class along with your prewriting. Don't forget to accompany each stage of the writing process with a brief statement describing the process. When possible, make connections to the standards and habits of mind here.
My apologies for the delay in getting homework posted. Thank you to those who let me know that it was missing.
Choose three metaphors that portray your experience as a writer and write for 5 minutes each. This will be your prewriting.
This weekend I will be reviewing your writing portfolios. Here is what I will be looking for:
Polar Entries Writing Process
Again, we find ourselves in the midst of the writing process. At this stage, you are responsible for giving and receiving peer feedback using the pointing and centering method. Also add a star and a step comment on the back of the half sheet of paper. Fill the pointing and centering with tons of feedback. Additionally, you need to conference with me and receive instructor feedback.
After you have received the feedback, please post pictures of peer and instructor feedback to Digication. Make sure that you add a short paragraph explaining how that feedback will impact your next draft. As you write, make connections to the standards and habits of mind. This is very student-driven at this point. So please ask me questions by posting comments below.
I'm here to help during lunch, 6th hour, 7th hour, and after school.
